Sarah Islam manages the Council’s Girl Innovation, Research, and Learning (GIRL) Center – a global research hub that generates, synthesizes, and translates evidence on adolescents to support investments that transform their lives, especially for girls. In her current role, she provides oversight and general day-to-day management of the GIRL Center portfolio, including serving as the lead Product Designer and Manager for the Adolescent Atlas for Action and the Adolescent Data Hub. She develops and manages effective and efficient processes for quality assurance, knowledge management, and proposal development, is responsible for operationalizing the GIRL Center’s strategy including partnership development, research impact, and fundraising, and serves as the point of contact between the GIRL Center and other internal departments.
Prior to joining the Council, she managed and conducted analysis on a range of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) projects in low- and middle-income countries. She led every aspect of the research cycle from developing evaluation plans and research questions to designing surveys, conducting analysis, and writing evaluation reports.
Islam has a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She speaks English and Bengali and is based in the Council’s Washington, DC office.
