National Adolescents Forum (Egypt)
The National Adolescents Forum in Egypt will be coordinated by the Egyptian Society for Adolescent Medicine (ESAM) in partnership with the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Minstry of Culture, National Council for Childhood and Motherhood as well as WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA and UNAIDS. Other collaborating organizations include the JSI-John Snow Inc., USAID, the Population Council, Pathfinders and EMPHNET.
It will be held in the Cairo Opera House on September 30 from 9 am till 5 pm (GMT+2). The Forum is aiming at focusing attention to the urgent need to make the 20 million Egyptian adolescents visible and gaining enough support. It will also provide a showcase for adolescents to be seen and heard. The expected 500 participants will be able to watch and hear the astonishing talents and abilities of our new generation.

Building agency of adolescents through quality programming and accountability

Strengthening adolescent agency is an end goal in and of itself, as well as a pathway to achieving other goals like gender justice, education, climate change and positive health and wellbeing outcomes. Grounded in evidence, adolescent girls and young practitioners from under-represented and historically marginalized identities/communities, including from low-and middle-income countries, will discuss what agency means to them and how they program around it in relation to health and wellbeing. Panellists will share best practices and community-based approaches that strengthen the agency of girls at the highest risks of racial bias, child marriage, unintended and early pregnancy, and HIV infection. They will reflect on advocacy and implementation strategies for better outcomes and on what further support is needed for an integrated, intersectional, feminist identity-based ecosystem to achieve adolescent well-being and gender equality. In addition, takeaways and action plans created by adolescents and other stakeholders at the Girls Deliver Pre-Conference on Adolescent Girls, at Women Deliver 2023, will be shared.
