The Population Council has worked in partnership with health and social science institutions in India since the 1960s and established its Delhi office in 1994. Today, the Population Center Institute is a locally-registered entity with a separate board of trustees.
The Population Council Institute confronts critical health and development issues in India from ensuring access to health services, ending malnutrition, and improving reproductive health to building resilience to environmental risks and achieving gender equality. Through biomedical, social science, and public health research, the Institute works with the Indian government, bi- and multilateral agencies, private businesses, and research organizations to design innovative solutions that lead to more effective policies and programs.
