Advancing Global Equity and Justice through Evidence and Innovation
Over the past year, it has become increasingly clear how global trends profoundly affect lives worldwide, particularly in underserved communities. The erosion of reproductive rights, rising conflicts, and the accelerating climate crisis make it more difficult to achieve our vision for an equitable and sustainable world for everyone, everywhere.
The Population Council is maintaining its momentum as it confronts these increasingly complex global challenges. Guided by our 2023-30 Strategic Plan, we drive change through new ideas, rigorous evidence, and state-of-the-art solutions.
Among our achievements, the Council:
- advanced contraceptive and HIV prevention technologies to improve choice, convenience, and control for women, men, and adolescents;
- delivered evidence to ensure that programs for adolescent girls and young women are effective and sustainable;
- launched a new innovation hub—the Gender, Education, Justice, and Equity Initiative (GEJE)—focused on research to tackle the global learning crisis and inequities in participation; and
- developed a new climate adaptation strategy to address the existential threat of climate change to people and places around the world.
The Population Council’s 70 years of evidence and impact has taught us to be nimble and dynamic to help the world navigate deeply entrenched and emerging challenges. As we start 2024, we remain dedicated to spurring innovation for positive change.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our mission.
