9th African Population Conference (9th APC)

May 20–24, 2024

Lilongwe, Malawi

Event Website

Organized every four years by the Union for African Population Studies (UAPS), the African Population Conference (APC) is the largest scientific meeting on population issues that examines the state and knowledge gaps regarding various population and development issues pertaining to the African continent. The theme this year is “Road to 2030: Leveraging Africa’s human capital to achieve transformation in a world of uncertainty.”

The Council and the GIRL Center are proud to be co-sponsors of this year’s APC in Malawi. We will have a booth in the exhibition hall, host two side events, and have several presentations. Council staff attending include: Peter Kisaakye, Mame Mbaye, Eva Muluve, Dela Nai (served on the 9th APC’s International Organizing Committee and International Scientific Committee and is outgoing Treasurer of UAPS), Sharon Nashipae, Francis Obare, George Odwe, and Joe Shaffner. Please visit us at our booth, attend one of our presentations/side events, or stop us in the hallway to talk with us about our research and initiatives.
