The Population Council systematically builds bodies of evidence that transform global thinking on critical health and development issues.
We collaborate with communities, governments, service and civil society organizations, and visionary investors to generate ideas, produce evidence, and design solutions to improve the lives of underserved populations around the world.
Providing the broadest possible access to data-rich research and policy analyses is integral to how we achieve our mission.
Knowledge Commons is the Population Council’s open access repository for research published by the Council and our collaborators. Our goal is to make scholarship more open, accessible, and reusable.
The repository contains a wide range of studies, statistical reports, working papers, books, briefs, toolkits, multimedia, and other resources on biomedical, behavioral and social science, and development topics.
Special editions of Population and Development Review and Studies in Family Planning, the Council’s two peer-reviewed journals, are also featured.
Works in Knowledge Commons are available to everyone and free to download. The repository helps users everywhere to easily find, browse, access, and share research. Content is also highly discoverable by most search engines, allowing for wide distribution and access.
We believe open availability catalyzes the use of data and evidence-based tools to inform smart policies and sound investments.
Links to many of the resources available in Knowledge Commons are included on pages across this website. We encourage users also to go directly to this one-stop knowledge portal.
