Comparative and International Education Society 2025 (CIES 2025)

March 22–26, 2025

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Event Website (External Link)

The annual CIES conference brings together educators, students, researchers, and policy makers to discuss educational issues, trends, and policies through comparative, intercultural, and international perspectives.

Council presentations will explore 1) girls’ participation in the care economy and the impact on educational attainment; 2) lessons learned from utilization of technologies during the COVID pandemic in Kenya; and 3) the impact and complexity of civil society organization interventions in Guatemala that aim to sustain educational recovery efforts from the pandemic.

A Council panel on Monday will examine new evidence on how social environments within schools influence both the academic and non-academic development of students, highlighting whether these environments—by reinforcing or challenging societal norms around gender, identity, and inequality—impact learning, educational attainment, and economic outcomes.

Council staff are bolded.
