In today’s world, fertility rates are low or declining in many countries. The specter of population ageing and population decline has captured the public imagination and spurred some governments to implement policies that encourage people to have more children. While fear of population decline is not new, this amplified global interest and the rise of pronatalist policies require an evidence-informed understanding about changing fertility trends, how these differ across contexts, and the implications for various populations.
Speakers with expertise in demography, economics, sociology, and sexual and reproductive health will share and debate their perspectives on these evolving dynamics.
