Abiodun A. Adebowale is a Research Coordinator in the Council’s Nigeria office. With close to 10 years’ experience in the development and humanitarian sectors, his work has revolved around child health and wellbeing, adolescent and youth health, empowerment and development, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), family planning (FP), behavior change communication (BCC) and education, and the application of implementation research across these areas. Currently, Adebowale is supporting the coordination of the Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) project, implementing a longitudinal cohort study to assess the Matasa Matan Arewa (MMA), an acronym for young women of the north, and Matasa Matan Arewa Plus (MMA+) interventions, a study to provide an in-depth understanding of the longer-term impacts of the MMA intervention in Nigeria and assess the stop/restart/switch patterns of contraceptive use over the short and long term. Before joining the Council, Adebowale was the programmes specialist in child protection and education at Terre des Hommes. He also volunteers with Quinta Health Nigeria as Country Engagement Advisor and programmes head.
Adebowale holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology and a master’s in public health and is currently completing a master’s in international development from the Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria.
