Ali Mazhar serves as the Director of Communication at Population Council Pakistan, where he leads strategic communication, advocacy, and outreach initiatives to promote evidence-based policymaking in the population and health sectors. With a strong focus on Social and Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC), he spearheads campaigns that engage diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, media, and civil society.
Mazhar has actively engaged with health experts, human and women’s rights advocates, religious scholars, and influential figures through consultative meetings and networking. Additionally, he plays a key role in fostering collaborations with multisectoral development partners and both national and international stakeholders. His work includes developing impactful communication strategies, managing media campaigns, and overseeing digital and social media engagement. He has also produced and managed media influencers through digital platforms, including podcasts, reports, and op-eds. Furthermore, he contributes to training and capacity-building initiatives, ensuring the effective use of media for social change.
Mazhar brings over two decades of expertise in communication and advocacy, with a distinguished career spanning media, development, and corporate sectors. His expertise includes media and communication strategies, crisis communication, branding, digital engagement, and public relations. A key achievement in his career was his instrumental role in launching major Pakistani news channels, including Express News and Dunya News. He has also led high-impact campaigns for international organizations such as the World Bank, GIZ, and Save the Children. His ability to craft compelling narratives and influence public discourse has made him a leading voice in strategic communication and social change.
Mazhar holds an MPhil in Communication Studies, equipping him with a deep understanding of media dynamics, strategic communication, and public engagement. His academic background strengthens his expertise in advocacy, social and behavioral change communication, and media strategy, enabling him to drive impactful communication initiatives in the development and public health sectors.
