Jeremy Nuttall is Senior Director of Preclinical Sciences for the Population Council, where he is responsible for determining the preclinical testing strategy. Nuttall oversees the studies conducted on products in development at the Council to support clinical trials and ultimately marketing applications.
Nuttall has over 35 years’ experience in drug development, having worked as a toxicologist in contract research organizations and in regulatory affairs at GSK. Prior to joining the Population Council, he was Vice President, Preclinical Sciences for the International Partnership for Microbicides where he oversaw preclinical development of all products, including the dapivirine vaginal ring (DapiRing), which was the first approved microbicide and the first long-acting biomedical HIV prevention product. He was also the team leader for the 3-month dapivirine vaginal ring, the dapvirine-maraviroc vaginal ring and gel, and the DS003 vaginal tablet.
Nuttall received his BSc in marine biology from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, and his MSc in applied toxicology from the University of Surrey, UK.
