While notable gains have been achieved in advancing gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), the rights and bodily autonomy of adolescent girls remain under constant threat, which is even exacerbated when crises strike.

Speakers for the event. Mariarosa Cutillo, UNFPA; Karen Austrian, GIRL Center/Population Council, Saina Sarin, UNMGCY; Oriana Hernandez, Jovenas Latidas; Leyla Sharafi, UNFPA; Jose-Roberto Luna, UNFPA

Despite the challenges, adolescent girls continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience, courage and agency. Their leadership is essential to building inclusive, effective, and sustainable solutions. As the global community prepares for the post-2030 agenda, this is a critical moment to reaffirm that adolescent girls’ bodily autonomy must remain at the centre of international commitments.

Organized by UNFPA, this webinar provides an opportunity to exchange experiences, reflect on progress and challenges, and learn from adolescent girls’ leadership and lived realities — while renewing collective energy and commitments to advance their rights, choices, and bodily autonomy in the face of persistent and emerging crises.

The “Let’s Talk SRHR: From Cairo to Beijing” conversation series provides an opportunity for diverse civil society stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions on SRHR and the ICPD agenda.

Join the us in this conversation with girl leaders from diverse regions, including the GIRL Center’s Karen Austrian, to mark and celebrate the International Day of the Girl.

Interpretation will be provided in English, French and Spanish.
