To celebrate International Women’s Day, researchers from across the Population Council’s global offices shared their perspectives on how research and evidence-based solutions improve the lives of women and girls around the world. 

Population Council President Rana Hajjeh kicked off the Council’s recognition of International Women’s Day by highlighting the Council’s commitment to increase women’s and girls’ access to health services, advance their economic and social empowerment, and realize their fundamental rights.

Deepshikha Sharma, Elizabeth Vasquez, Evalin Karijo, and Fatou Mbow shared actions they believe are needed to unlock equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal power for all women and girls.  

Beth Kangwana, Allegra Cockburn, Nachela Chelwa, and Nahla Abdel Tawab shared the impact of their research on advancing health and rights for women and girls around the world  

To wrap up our International Women’s Day celebration, Neeharika Verma, Zeba Sathar, Tariku Shimels, and Sowmya Ramesh spoke about what current research they’re most excited about to accelerate progress on women and girls’ health and rights.
